

On January 16, 2026, the first lifting operation of the main plant crane was completed at the Tibet Anduo Tushuo tower-type concentrated solar power (CSP) project. Located at an altitude of 4,650 meters, the project is the world’s highest-altitude tower-type CSP plant. This milestone marks the project’s official transition from civil construction to mechanical and electrical equipment installation.
To meet the extreme operating conditions of the Tanggula Mountains, including severe cold, low air pressure, and ultra-low temperatures, TOMUU supplied U23D electric linear actuators for the project’s heliostat tracking system. With a high-precision transmission design, the actuator enables accurate solar concentration and stable operation in ultra-high-altitude environments (4,645–4,657 m above sea level), meeting the reliability requirements of tower-type CSP tracking systems.
The project is jointly supported by Dongfang Boiler, which provides core equipment including the solar concentrating and heat collection system, steam generator, and turbine-generator unit. At present, heliostat installation has reached 70%. TOMUU’s U23D electric linear actuators for CSP applications were fully shipped to Anduo County, Tibet in October 2025 and have been progressively installed across the solar field, providing high-precision linear drive support for 16,000 heliostats and more than 800,000 square meters of reflective area.
The Tibet Anduo CSP project is located in a high-altitude plateau environment with severe cold, low oxygen levels, and rapidly changing weather conditions. Equipment must withstand harsh challenges such as temperatures down to -30°C, strong solar radiation, and low air pressure. Developed specifically for concentrated solar power applications, the TOMUU U23D electric linear actuator uses a brushless motor and stainless steel inner tube structure. Through pulse-signal control from the drive system, it enables precise control of heliostat angle and tracking speed, helping reflect sunlight efficiently to the receiver tower and improving solar concentration and thermal conversion efficiency.
TOMUU linear actuator U23D offers high-precision positioning, continuous and stable operation, long service life, and maintenance-free performance. It has passed reliability tests for waterproofing, salt spray resistance, high and low temperatures, UV exposure, vibration, and impact, and supports continuous operation under 100% load cycle conditions. These features make it a key component for heliostat tracking systems in outdoor tower-type CSP plants operating under extreme conditions.
